Skill Spotlight: Place Value
Subject: Math
Grade: 2
What is my child learning?
Children spend a lot of time in 2nd grade developing an understanding of place value. In order to add and subtract (and eventually multiply and divide) fluently and flexibly, it is important that kids have a strong understanding of what each digit in a number represents. A strong understanding of place value gives children access to a wide variety of math strategies, rather than just stacking numbers on top of each other.
📅 Coming tomorrow
This week's activity is called, “Make 10.” It's a fun way to practice place value and addition skills.
