Skill Spotlight: Synonyms & Antonyms

  • Subject: English Language Arts (ELA)

  • Grade: 2

What is my child learning?

In this game, you are helping your child focus on the meanings of words and how words relate to each other. This is a key part of English language arts instruction in the second half of second grade, and synonyms and antonyms are a particular focus. Learning about the meanings of words and how they relate to each other lays the foundation your child needs for building a strong vocabulary and solid reading comprehension. The stronger a child's vocabulary, the more easily they will understand what they read. Good comprehension is essential for academic success and also for reading enjoyment!
