Technical Co-Founder Job Description

Job Summary:

Dancing Panda is seeking a mission-driven Technical Co-Founder to join our founding team. This is a hands-on, equity-based opportunity for an entrepreneurial technologist who is passionate about building scalable edtech products that support families and advance educational equity.

About Dancing Panda:

Dancing Panda sends text messages to parents, families, and caregivers with age-appropriate, easy, and fun learning activities that families can do together. Activities can be completed in 5 or 10 minutes, require few or no materials, and complement the learning happening in classrooms across the U.S. We partner with schools and school districts to help them more effectively partner with parents with the learning happening in their classrooms. Essential Duties and Responsibilities

We’re looking for a collaborative partner who can shape and scale our technical vision. Responsibilities include:

  • Co-lead the strategy and development of our digital learning platform.

  • Maintain, improve, and potentially rebuild our CMS and backend infrastructure.

  • Design and build new features that improve user experience and increase engagement.

  • Lead or guide decisions around architecture, security, and data analytics.

  • Own or oversee integrations with third-party services (e.g., SMS platforms, Squarespace, Google Analytics).

  • Collaborate closely with the Founder & CEO on product roadmap and implementation.

  • Recruit and manage additional technical talent as needed.

Qualifications, Skills, and Mindsets

  • A strong alignment with Dancing Panda’s mission and values.

  • 15+ years full-stack development experience, demonstrating progressive leadership or ownership of a product.

  • Technical proficiency in: JavaScript, Python, HTML/CSS, AWS, and API integrations.

  • Experience with data architecture, security, and user-facing products.

  • Product-oriented mindset: you care about users, outcomes, and simplicity.

  • People management experience strongly preferred, especially if you’ve led or mentored technical teams.

  • Startup or early-stage experience strongly preferred.

  • Strong communication skills and comfort working with non-technical partners.

  • Self-directed, solutions-focused, and comfortable navigating ambiguity.

  • Commitment to equity, access, and using tech for good. 

Structure and Compensation
This is a founding role. Initial compensation will be primarily equity-based, with the potential for a salary once funding is secured. We are flexible on location, but prefer those in the New York City area. Work is fully remote with occasional in-person meetings.
