Skill Spotlight: Sensory & Body Awareness
Subject: Wellness
Grade: 2
What is my child learning?
Through this Grounded activity, your child is developing sensory awareness and mindful attention to physical sensations. By deliberately feeling different textures with their feet, they are practicing body awareness and exploring the sensory information we often ignore in our daily lives. This activity helps children develop descriptive vocabulary as they articulate the different sensations they experience. The comparison between textures encourages critical thinking about why certain sensations feel pleasant or unpleasant, building their emotional intelligence and self-awareness.
