Skill Spotlight:  Hand-Eye Coordination

  • Subject: Wellness

  • Grade: 3

What is my child learning?

In 3rd grade, children learn and master the fundamental movement schools necessary for a variety of sports and day-to-day activities. In "Frogs and Lily Pads," your child is practicing the foundational skill of throwing underhand. In Kindergarten through second grade, children learn and master the basic motions of the underhand throw. In third grade, the focus shifts to accuracy. Complete accuracy is not expected at this age, just "reasonable accuracy." Practicing underhand throwing also helps children develop hand-eye coordination skills and visual perception.
